Okay...
even with our help this poor 850 Spider on the right may be a wee bit too
tough to restore. Did you know when FIAT left the US in the 1980's we were given
exclusive permission to continue to reproduce and provide FIAT Service
Manuals, Wiring Diagrams and other Technical Literature necessary for the
proper service and operation of these classic cars?

AUTOBOOKS
1964 - 1972 FIAT 850 COUPE, SPECIAL, SPIDER and SPORT WORKSHOP MANUAL -
Need a shop manual but don't have the budget for the Factory Shop
Manual? This is a great "after-market" manual that covers all the 850's
with an 843 or 903cc engine. Separate chapters cover engine, fuel
system, ignition, cooling system, clutch,
transmission, suspension, steering, brakes, electrical and bodywork. It has hundreds of pictures, drawings and illustrations.
This has all the information you need to keep your vintage 850 going
strong.
WIRING DIAGRAMS FOR FIAT 850 SPIDERS
- Ever try to track down an electrical problem
without the proper wiring diagrams? 850 Spiders varied only slightly in
electrical layout, so wiring diagrams are somewhat similar, but there
are three distinct types of 850 Spider electrical systems: first the
cars with a generator, and then the cars with an alternator of which
there is both an "early" and a "late" style. These complete 850
Spider Wiring
Diagrams individually cover all three of these versions. Our diagrams
show individual circuits, wire color
and component locations. You should not be without one of these for your car!

FIAT
FACTORY 850 COUPE & SPIDER PARTS CATALOG - This Original Fiat Factory Parts Manual has
hundreds of drawings and diagrams showing virtually every part that makes up an 850! There is a description of every part along with the original
FIAT Factory part numbers. Great if you are trying to track down what part goes where or identify a "mystery part" that you may have sitting in a
box. 120 pages
FIAT 850 & 600 MECHANICAL and BODY PARTS CATALOG
- Originally printed by the former North
American Fiat Parts Distributor, this is self-admittedly a bit short on
exploded parts views, but it does have diagrams showing the
engine/transmission mounts, engine gaskets, lubrication system,
transmission internals, drive shafts, brakes, steering and front & rear
suspension. Additionally there are listings for pistons, crankshaft,
cylinder head, timing gear, fuel system, carburetor, exhaust, cooling
system, clutch, wheel bearings, shocks, heating, windshield wiper,
electrical, body panels, weatherstrips, door parts, convertible top,
interior parts, bumpers and emblems with the parts listed along with their
original FIAT Factory part numbers. 31 pages
1972 FIAT 850 SPORT SPIDER OWNER'S MANUAL -
From 1967 to 1972 the controls, dashboard and operations of the 850
Spider changed very little. In light of this, a 1972 Owner's Manual can
effectively be used for all 1967 to 1972 850 Spiders. Now you can know
what switches control what, what fuses are in what place and much more.
Fiat always packed their Owner's Manual with basic maintenance info,
technical specifications
and much more. Fiat Owner's Manuals can almost be used as a mini-shop
manual for these cars. 48 fully illustrated pages with a wealth of information available no
where else!
NOTE: Our reprint Owner's Manual
is in "booklet" form,
the same shape and size as the original, not the 8.5 x 11 inch photo copies
available elsewhere.
LAMINATED WEBER 30 DICA INSTRUCTION SHEET
- Did you know there are
almost 80 different parts on the Weber 30 DICA carburetor? Just doing a straight
forward carb rebuild on your 850? Here's exactly what you need! Our
laminated 30 DICA Instruction Sheet has a complete exploded
view of the entire carb on one side and a complete parts list with Weber
part numbers on the back. Use it right at the car and don't worry about it
getting it soiled or bent as dirt and grease will wipe right off and the
rigid lamination will not bend.
WEBER CARBURETOR GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
-
A procedural guide to help you diagnosis specific problems that occur
during various operating conditions. This is simple, but very effective.
GUIDE TO TUNING WEBER DCOE & IDA AND STROMBERG CD & SU
- This is "real old school"! 40 pages of instructions, adjustments,
selecting jet & venturi sizes and more for the DCOE & IDA series of Weber
carburetors and the CD & SU series of Stromberg carburetors.
LAMINATED 850 SPIDER CONVERTIBLE TOP INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
- Way back when, FIAT issued installation
instructions for removing the old top and installing a new one, this is
the document for that procedure. Also includes a nice exploded view of
the top, the top frame and all the associated weatherstripping,
brackets and other components. If you are thinking about installing your own top
then these instructions are essential. Use it right at the car and don't
worry about it getting it soiled or bent as dirt and grease will wipe
right off and the rigid lamination will not bend.
- Ever try to take
the cable off inside the door that that winds the window up and down?
Forget trying to re-install it a week later, even an hour later, you will
have no idea how it runs! Save yourself hours of frustration with this
laminated window regulator guide. One side is a drawing of how the cable
winds around the pulleys for the left and right door. The back side is a
copy of the page from the official Fiat 850 Spider Parts Manual showing all the
components of the door and the window winding mechanism. Use it right at
the car and don't worry about it getting it soiled or bent as dirt and
grease will wipe right off and the rigid lamination will not bend.
FIAT SPECIAL SERVICE TOOLS
- FIAT, like all auto manufacturers, had
special service tools to accomplish certain repair or maintenance
procedures. This manual is a listing of all the service tools FIAT
issued from the 850 models to the 2000 Spider. A picture of each tool is
shown along with the FIAT and Kent-Moore part numbers, it's application
to what vehicle and it's purpose. This is essential if you are really
going to "dig deep" into your FIAT.
A BLAST FROM THE PAST...
Back in the 1980's and early 1990's
there was a quirky character named Greg Schmidt who sold Fiat 850, 750 and
600 parts (and for the cars based on those, Abarth, Lombardi, Moretti,
OTAS, etc.) out of his home in San Diego. Greg had this "mystery"
connection for obtaining Abarth, Campagnolo, Weber parts, Autobianchi
engines and other high performance Italian "goodies" and for years
sold these parts. Then
one day he just literally dropped off the face of the earth...
Occasionally Greg would issue a publication
with all the parts or the procedures for "hopping up" your 600, 750 or 850
Fiat. Sometimes parts are handwritten, sometimes parts are typed, and
sometimes he rambles on a little bit, but the amount of information and
the number of drawings is staggering. Guaranteed there's stuff in here
that you never even thought about! Two of these publications are below.
FIAT & ABARTH TRICKS -
111 pages packed with information and
drawings. Chapters cover engine/trans removal and replacement, complete
maintenance and repair, car conversion and improvements, body & trim parts
and replica cars, competition preparation, Fiat 124 engine conversions,
clutch linkage upgrades, Abarth and stock Fiat engine specifications. This
has exploded views, parts descriptions, part numbers and an
appendix with the differences on 850's from year to year. Read thru this
and you'll know way, way more than you ever thought about your Fiat 850.
850/600 ABARTH PARTS CATALOG
- 68 pages crammed
with all the goodies that Greg had to offer. There are dozens of parts
listed on each page and usually a dozen or so drawings too. Issued in
September, 1994 this is probably, if not definitely, the last parts
catalog Greg printed.
ABARTH EXHAUST CATALOG
- This was published in 1967 by the then Abarth exhaust importer. This 20
page catalog lists the Abarth exhausts available along with other sports
car "goodies" that Fisher Products offered at the time. A very cool look
back in time almost 45 years ago!
OWN A PIECE OF HISTORY! -
After FIAT ceased selling cars in the US
in 1982 they stayed several years to provide replacement parts here in the
US. In 1990 they sold off the parts business to Import Parts America (IPA)
out of Fremont, CA and left the US behind.
IPA made a nice attempt at doing some
marketing and one of the things they did was to provide a "community"
newsletter. In exchange for your address, year and model of car they would
send you a quarterly newsletter. This newsletter was a great idea, but
after three issues or so it folded.
What we have here is the original, initial
Volume 1, Issue 1 FIAT BRAVO NEWSLETTER from the Fall of 1990. This is NOT a copy or
reprint but the actual newsletter itself printed almost 20 years ago.
This is an incredible look at the FIAT scene
two decades ago and has articles on FIAT's history since 1899, "Affordable
Classic Cars", maintaining your convertible top, adjusting headlamps.
paint maintenance, a great technical Q & A, and pictures & descriptions of
various owner's cars: Scorpions, 124's, 850's and more.
This is the original, oversized 8 page
Newsletter Volume 1, Issue 1, dated Fall of 1990. Quantities are limited
so order it now.
OWN A PIECE OF HISTORY! (part 2) -
Even after Fiat stopped selling
cars in 1982, they continued
selling parts here in the US and Canada. Every couple of months they
issued "Dealer Price Lists" to the former dealers and now coming on line
"Parts Distributors". As parts would come and go, naturally the size of
the book would change but most issues are about 120 pages and list each
and every part with factory part number, a description, dealer price and
retail price. These
books were not supposed to fall into the consumer's hands; the wealth
of information contained within is tremendous!.
These are ORIGINAL FIAT/LANCIA price books, not
copies or reprints so quantities are of course limited.
